We're actually working our way through some best practices on how to use blogs as "online newsrooms."  We run http://redcross.wordpress.com as a portal, linking to active operations, but we try to have a separate site specific for each big disaster.

With multiple authors and a faster, more flexible publishing interface, we can at least stay with 24-hour news cycles.</description>
