I've heard that same story, i.e. social networking sites overwhelm networks with DNS requests. Not sure if it's true, but it was on the Interwebs . . .

I know a few people who have facebook and all kinds of other sites (myspace, hotmail, etc) blocked by their employer. I won't name the companies, but I have heard that they claimed the reasons were more about these sites sucking bandwidth than anything else, maybe just an excuse?

Regarding the Survey question - 'would you consider leaving your company if they banned facebook?' Most people consider leaving on a daily basis, if they change the soap in the bathrooms to a different brand, if they change the brand of free soda, etc., etc. It is a meaningless question just to get free publicity, probably a survey commissioned by facebook - worked well becasue I am talking about it.
