As part of our ongoing work with the internal instance of WebCenter (@oraclewebcenter), Rich (@rmanalan) has released a bookmarklet that allows for quick and easy sharing of a link to WebCenter, no need to copy the link and navigate to WebCenter.
The bookmarklet creates a message board entry in your personal space (if you select My Connections from the dropdown) or in a group space (if you pick one from the dropdown) with your message and a link to the page you shared.
Rich has promised a technical discussion of the particulars, which he says are interesting. If you want that, stay tuned.
If you’re an employee, hit me up on email for the how-tos. If you’re a customer, partner, or otherwise interested party, drop a comment, and we’ll try to get you something you can reuse. Try, being the key word.
Rich plans to extend the bookmarklet to allow for ad hoc sharing, without requiring a link, and to include file upload, possibly via an HTML5 dropzone like GMail has.
As a team, we’re focusing some energy on adding new ways to interact with WebCenter from outside the Spaces web app, leveraging the services and extensibility inherent to the product.
