Chris Anderson and the 4 Stages of Technology
If you’re not watching TED, you should be. It is one of the real gems of the web. Visionaries from around the globe sharing their perspective in digestible chunks you can enjoy from your PC in your boxers.
In this video, Chris Anderson of Wired has explains the 4 stages of technology. Briefly they are:
1. Price Lowers Below Some Critical Point 2. Critical Mass is Reached 3. Inflection Point Met (ie. surpasses exisiting technology) 4. Price Approaches FreeIt similar to the Geoffrey Moore model, but I find it more quantitative and frankly useful. From and enterprise perspective, you have to wonder, where is ERP in this progression? Are we seeing hosted software walk this path? Is Salesforce approaching #3?
