  1. I bought a new computer to replace an older one with paid antivirus software (the name of the antivirus company sort of rhymes with dramatic). Occasionally I'd have to power up the old computer, and when I did, I'd see increasingly frantic messages about how my computer would soon lose its protection. After the deadline passed, I'd get big red messages whenever I'd start up that computer. You can guess how much positive goodwill “Dramatic” has from me at this point.

  2. This gets back to why people don't keep their systems updated. It's a lose-lose. If you're too chatty and dire, people ignore and hate you. If you're less intrusive, people don't update, which leads to fail.

I don't run Windows anymore, so I'm blissfully anti-virus software free.

  3. Ah yes those were the days! I can honestly say I haven't looked back since jumping the ship.

  4. Salad days right now. Let's hope OS X keeps a low enough percentage of the OS market to keep itself a financially unviable virus and malware target.
