VMware Android Handset VM

This is very cool stuff, h/t to Matt (@topperge) for sending it my way. Check out the video; it’s a bit noisy, but solider through, totally worth it.

VMware Android handset virtualization hands-on — Engadget

Basically, deploying an enterprise VM to a smartphone sidesteps a lot of issues, chief among them security.

. . . the potential in the work world are [sic] pretty impressive: an employer can simply provision and add the new OS replete with all the security policies, remote wipe capability, security, VPN config, mail settings, and all that magic.

All running on the device’s SD card. Very cool stuff.

    Of course, good one. Extending that, shared mode might cause the carriers some concern.
