Rich (@rmanalan) mentioned earlier that he might get a NOOKcolor for himself. If you’re not familiar, the NOOKcolor is an Android device, recently rooted and now with Android Market access, essentially making it an Android tablet.
Update: Why mod? If you can wait until January, you’ll get an official 2.2 update and the Android Market from Barnes and Noble. Not to shabby for $250.
Another update: Guess not, B&N say no Android Market coming to the NOOKcolor. Oh well.
He and I agree that tablets make for awesome ereading devices, and tablets, especially iPads, are in demand this holiday season.
I recently had my iPad itch scratched, so I’ll be having a gadget-free holiday, unless Google sends me a Cr-48.
Still, I’m curious to know what gadgets (tablets, phones, etc.) are on your list to give or receive this holiday and why.

Jambox? Sonos? GF2? Kindle?
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Somehow I knew you’d have a much better and more complete list 🙂 Jambox or Sonos not both, right? Drop me a note about the GF2, have some q’s.
Kindle? Really? You’d rather keep rocking that than a NOOKcolor (a.k.a. Android tablet)?
I’d like to see a Twilight themed Android for the bloodsucking crowd. Called HemoRoid, of course. Complete with discount for itch relief app.
No relation to Rootstrap, of course.
Ha, nice. I wouldn’t joke; someone’s probably building a Twilight mod already.

This isn’t any different from the Farmville stories of the same ilk. OK, maybe a little since FB doesn’t have credit card information to use accidentally.
Did the game makers foresee this issue? Probably. Did Apple? Probably. Did the parents get stung by something and feel a little embarrassed? Probably. Is it a scam? Doubtful.
Just another happy side effect of technology. There will be more of this as kids get iPads for the holidays. The iPad is a gateway drug for apps, and let’s not forget that it costs $500 from the jump.
I refer everyone to the Oatmeal’s take on apps: http://theoatmeal.com/blog/apps
