A Supermarket Featuring 40 Years of Product

I’m a nostalgic person, so this type of thing fascinates me. I would totally waste a day wandering through this place.

For Design Researchers: The NewProductWorks Collection, a Supermarket Featuring 40 Years’ Worth of Product – Core77

This massive warehouse of old product packaging doesn’t appeal to my consumerism; it appeals to my design sense. I think it’s important to draw design insight from as many places as possible, including the past, and I’m not alone in this belief.

How cool would it be to wander through this type of museum for popular software? The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine covers this nicely for the web and is actually quite fun from a historical perspective. However, I’ve never heard of a software compendium, only personal projects like the Windows history video by Andrew Tait.

With VMs as powerful as they are now, someone could pull this off, assuming all the licenses were in tact.

Someone do that and report back to me.
