This comic from Matt Inman, a.k.a. the Oatmeal (@theoatmeal) is delightfully insightful.

Some thoughts and musing about making things for the web

I toyed with some cool adverbs to add to insightful, e.g. surprisingly, inspiringly, but they all seemed to cheapen his work. So, I chose delightfully because everything is better with a side of delight.

Matt writes and draws comics, much in the same way that Randall Munroe and Chris Onstad do. You know, the kind of stuff you’d never get to read if it weren’t for internets because no publisher in her/his right mind would allow them to go to print.

That is until there was a rabid audience who would pay for a book.

Matt Groening’s Life in Hell is the exception to that rule, natch.

Anyway, as you were.

  1. I couldn’t think of anything good to say, but I wanted to show my appreciation for pointing to the cartoon. It’s very true. 🙂

Regarding the Mo, it’s become the centre of my universe. 🙂

    Cheers

    Tim…

  2. It is funny that the benchmark for success remains publishing a physical book (even for very successful intertubes writers) or producing a celluloid movie. I think we tend to get too close to this medium, or maybe that’s changing. Dunno, definitely funny though.

Kinda like when you say you build software, and then have to explain what kind 🙂
