Noel (@noelportugal) and Raymond have been working on a secret project. Here’s the latest:
Thanks to AUX colleague and Friend of the ‘Lab, Rob Hernandez, for the 3D modeling.
So now you know why Noel bought the slap bands, but what goes in the case?
If you’ve been watching, you might know already.
Those are LightBlue Beans from Punch Through Design (@punchthrough), h/t @colin_k.
Stay tuned.
Are you using a 3D printer to custom-make the cases?
@Joyce: Noel is using Shapeways and Sculpeo to print the cases.
@Jake: Cool, I didn’t know those services existed. I’m still waiting for the Peachy Printer I ordered last year as a gift for my husband. Stanford has a 3D printer that I think alums can use? Or maybe you have to be a current student, I forget. You can make a model of Hoover Tower or other stuff.
@Joyce: Consumer printers still seem to be buggy. They have a couple at OMSI, and they are always on the fritz. The more expensive, commercial ones do a better job. So, for now, it makes sense for us to outsource.
@jake Shapeways rocks! Fun too…, i have some of these: http://www.shapeways.com/blog/archives/2157-put-a-kap-on-that-glass-3d-printing-privacy.html We should print stuff at hackathons and so on..
@Ultan: Glass Kap, interesting idea. Speaking of, Glass is floating lately, not much news, very little direction.
